We assisted Red Scientific on a geo-typical terrain generation system / GIS as part of an electronic battlefield for the US Department of Defense.
We worked on various aspects of the system including parts of the GUI and parts of the multi-threaded terrain generation and feature-placing process, making extensive use of Design Patterns for design and implementation.
All of our development was with Visual C++ v6, MFC and STL under Windows NT v4.0 (SP5).
